Planted in 2000, the vineyard totals over 26 acres with 16 acres of Pinot Noir, 5 acres of Chardonnay, 4 acres of Syrah, and about 1 acre of Pinot Gris and Viognier. The site consists of two south facing slopes with a small flat step in the middle. The elevation starts at 180 feet and tops out at 370 feet above sea level. In 2013, we grafted the Pinot Gris and most of the Viognier to Pinot Noir clones 2A and 4. We kept 0.6 acres of Viognier so winemakers could use it to co-ferment with the Syrah, which is a traditional method in the northern Rhône Valley. In 2014, we are planting another 1.7 acres of Pinot Noir which was left open as a site for a winery. In 2015, we plan on planting another 6 acres of the north portion of the property.
The vines are planted close together and low to the ground to protect them from the ocean breezes and provide heat from the soil. The sandy soils provide light reflection and are well drained.
